We first visited African Horseback Safaris in the Okavango Delta in Botswana while working on our African Icons Book and have returned a number of times subsequently, shooting both stills and video for them. It’s a wild place where horseback riders are able to experience some wonderful riding and game viewing, while staying in a very comfortable camp set on the edge of one of the waterways.
On one of the trips, we took along our new Manfrotto PROX video monopod+ to see how it performed while shooting both stills and video, in some pretty tough conditions. In short, we loved it and it’s now a regular part of our shooting gear. The movements are smooth and it’s well made - should be able to stand being tossed into the back of a 4X4 as happens when you are in these remote areas. More details and pricing on the monopods at Singer Photographic and Orms Direct.
